We spent our first day driving around Oahu – and waiting for our luggage to arrive.
Meg and Maren in their Mustang convertible – that's right, we got a convertible.
We were glad to get our luggage before we went to the temple in Laie.
After the temple, we visited the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Megsie cools off for a bit in the shade near a waterfall.
Megsie catches a wave and rides it all the way to the beach.
I'm almost up; can I make it?
YES!! But see that guy next to me? He tried to steal my wave and knocked me over when he stood up.
Megsie on the Diamond Head trail. Diamond Head is an old volcano that has a nice little trail along the inside of the crater.
Just a few more stairs and a tunnel are left, Meg.
There were some really nice views of Oahu from the trail, both upside down and right side up.
We were too sunburned by the time we got to Maui to do much, so we drove a lot.
Meg hobbled on her sunburned legs to the edge of this cliff just for this picture.
The Maui Ocean Center let us feel like we were experiencing Hawaii indoors.
Now this is about my speed.
Well hello, Mr. Sea Turtle.
Whoever took this picture (ahem, Megan) evidently didn't know how to use the horizon to make it straight.
The sunset from the boardwalk in Lahaina was amazing.
This is the closest I came to the waves in Maui. I'll have to go again sometime, with better sunscreen.
